Paleo BBQ Sauce

I’m not a huge BBQ sauce fan, but wanted to change-up chicken night.  It actually surprised me, sweet with a little kick.  I think I would like to mess around with it a little more, maybe so it’s not as thick but the hubby approved so it’s a keeper.  I hope you like it!

1 tbsp coconut oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 onion, minced
1/2 cup pure orange juice
12 oz tomato paste
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp cayenne pepper (or more or less depending on how spicy you want it)
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sea salt
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp (South African Smoke season from Trader Joes)
  1. Throw garlic and onion in food processor and pulse until minced
  2. Heat coconut oil in a sauce pan on medium heat, add garlic and onion and saute’ for about 2 minutes, add remaining ingredients and let simmer for about 15 minutes. 
  3. Add to your favorite meat or use as a dipping sauce.

For the South African Smoke seasoning, if you don’t have it the seasons used in this mixture are: smoked paprika, sea salt, garlic and basil, it has a great smoky flavor.
